What Spring Will Bring

Before I left for Spring Break, there was snow on the ground mid-March (thanks polar vortex) and I never thought I would see sunshine or green grass again. But even after my return from the Sunshine State I still have yet to spot green grass; but hey, at least it is warmer than 30 degrees! Since the day of my return the struggle has been so real because I can't wear flip flops or shorts, and people are still dressing like it's winter. Well the bean boots and scarves better go back to the North Pole because they are not prepared for the trends spring will bring to the fashion world this year!

Overalls are making a comeback friends, and it's going to be huge. At first I was very skeptical about wearing them, believing that I would look like I had just returned from feeding the pigs on the farm (ironic because I actually have a pet pig). However, I began to see overalls appearing on my Pinterest and Instagram feeds and I could not seem to get away from them. I have finally concluded that overalls can be very cute- but only if they're dressed the right way. The trendiest way to wear the denim romper this season is to sport a long or short sleeve t-shirt, insuring that the color or print of the shirt compliments the shade of denim. Then, accessorize with a simple necklace, possibly some sunglasses, and cute sandals! This revolved look of overalls can work for either the shorts or pants version! I currently have my eye on a pair of overalls from Madewell, but soon every store will be selling this newly refreshed item, so get them before they go off the shelves!

Next on my list of Spring Must-Haves (or must-wants) is the leather pocket dress. When shopping in Anthropologie, I saw the cutest short-sleeve shift dress, striped i believe, with two HUGE brown leather pockets attached on the sides. The unique embellishment provides a new look on a classic shift dress. I predict that this look will soon be produced incorporating a ton of spring colors in a simplistic way. I am eager to see the leather pocket dress takeover and evolve!

Now, I feel like a hypocrite because I've been talking about leaving the dark colors behind but all this post has included is dark and neutral colors… So, let's talk spring colors now! I think that this spring will demand the return of the brightly colored accessories. Especially as we get more into April and May, the fashion world will be a color wheel of exuberant and pastel shades. For hats, I will be wearing my Vineyard Vines baseball hat for those sunny days. And for days when it is still too bright outside for a hat, the colorful Ray Ban Aviators will be worn. The laser cut detailing will hybrid with a pretty pastel creating a fabulous tote, clutch, purse, or wallet like Sondra Roberts' "Laser Cut Tote" from Nordstrom

I cannot wait to share what I will be wearing this season and discovering new ways to style classic spring designs!
