Hello friends! First I would like to say that after a very busy school year IT IS FINALLY SUMMER!!! So I am determined to get this blog moving towards a regular (hopefully weekly?) schedule. I am excited for you all to see the things I have planned for this blog!
This week's title may seem a little vague; however, it seems to apply to me at the moment so I hope to share my ideas with you! To clear things up, my family normally takes a vacation to Florida during the summer, and while we are down there we are taking a small trip outside the USA. The thing is, the location is a complete surprise to us. I've spent hours trying to crack the mystery by badgering my family, but only received these clues:
- The destination is out of the country
- The destination is somewhere warm
- The destination may be a little chilly at night
- The destination requires swimwear
- The destination furthers plenty of walking
In hopes of successfully packing, I organized a list of some of the items I am packing for my top-secret vacation!
TOPS
Casual Tank Top: These will come in handy for leisurely activities. I am thinking of bringing a workout tank top that isn't too junky but is wearable for various types of outfits.
Dressy Tank Top: I will bring a few of my favorites with me to add pizazz to any outfit!
Spirit Jersey: One of my favorite type of shirts is perfect for those chilly nights in the mystery place.
BOTTOMS
Nice Shorts: Two pairs should be a reasonable amount. I love my white chino shorts from J Crew as well as another color or pattern to spruce up any boring outfit.
Tennis Skirt: My white Lululemon skirt is great for any casual activity, yet classy enough that it does not seem too contemporary.
Cropped Leggings: I personally love cropped leggings because they allow warmth for my legs but not too much that they become uncomfortable… it is summer for goodness sake!
White Jeans: I love white jeans because they look cute with any type of top top and are perfect for chilly nights!
DRESSES and ROMPERS
Casual Dress: These dresses are the best because they can be worn during the day or night and are perfect for any occasion!
Fancy Dress: I will bring one (that won't get wrinkled) in case we go somewhere a little fancier for dinner.
Cover Up: I love using dresses as coverups because it is so much simpler and comfortable than wearing nike shorts and a T-shirt.
Romper: I am in love with rompers lately and I'm on the hunt to find more because they are just so fun! I am packing mine from Lilly Pulitzer in last year's print: Schooner Blue Dock Hopper.
SWIM
Strapless Suit: I love my Marley Lilly hot pink monogrammed bandeau. Bandeaus are perfect for tanning because they prevent tan lines.
Triangle Suit: I am bringing my new L Space yellow triangle bikini with a braided back!
Mix and match: Simple colored bottoms that can function well with other tops (esp. white and navy) allow me to switch up by swimwear options.
SHOES
Beach Flip Flops: My black Havaianas are good for getting wet and are extremely comfortable!
Nice Flip Flops or Wedges: These are great for going out in, but I'm making sure to bring a pair of wedges or nice flip flops that can work with any of my nicer outfits (dresses, rompers, white jeans, etc).
Running Shoes: I've been told that we need them for something adventurous!
ACCESSORIES
Purse: I love my gold cross-body bag from Kate Spade because it has plenty of room and is easy to keep track of in a place where there are a lot of people.
Tote Bag: I'll use this as my plane carry on as well as a potential beach bag for my trip (I'm already using my Lilly Pulitzer Shoreline Tote as a beach bag in Florida!)
Sunglasses: I'm hopeful that we are going somewhere sunny so I can sport my tortoise shell Ray Ban Wayfarers!
Hat: My khaki Vineyard Vines baseball cap will save me from a sunburn or a bad hair day!
Camera: I love using my Olympus Tough waterproof camera to capture plenty of digitalized memories!
Jewelry: I'll only bring around one necklace and bracelet, specifically used to dress up a casual outfit.
Now for those of you who think this is a lot of things…it is not. I always overpack but I believe in the motto "better be safe than sorry!" I hope you guys enjoyed this post and if you have any suggestions of outfit ideas, think you solved the mystery of my destination, or have something else to say, just let me know in the comments below!
