My Newest Obsession

Over break, I got a present which I did not know that I needed until now. These wildly popular adult coloring books are amazing for reducing stress and for getting your mind off of things. The brand I have is Doodle Designs - 31 Stress-Relieving Designs. You can purchase them on Amazon! There are different themed books that you can purchase such as ocean designs, and flower designs. I recommend that you use markers but colored pencils work too! You can check out a picture I finished recently! Hope you enjoy!

Spring Break Diet?

For the past two weeks I've chilled in Florida doing vacation-y things like swimming, tanning, shopping, and of course...eating. The restaurants in the Gulf Coast has some of my favorite meals in the whole wide world. Hopefully my dinners make your mouth water as much as mine just thinking about it. Bon Appetit!

Parpadelle Sasso: Ribbon shaped pasta in a tomato cream sauce with pieces of melted buffalo mozzarella (the best kind of mozzarella). I could honestly eat this every night and be happy...but I'd be fat (but still happy lol).

Stone Crab Claws: My favorite food from the sea are these bad boys.
"Grown Up" Grilled Cheese: At the beach we go to, they serve the best grilled cheese in the entire world. Cheddar cheese with bacon, tomato, and avocado on multi grain bread could be one of the best combos ever. Having this with a side of fried and a piƱa colada ties together the whole beach dining experience.

Crab and Shrimp Spring Rolls: The richest but most simple meal I've had on this trip. When dipping the rolls in a mix of sweet soy sauce and sriracha sauce you feel like you've experienced the ultimate flavor explosion.

Shake Shack (need I say more): I guess I'll say more about the freshest bun and the crispiest fries I've ever had in my life. My fam (minus my sister) and I took a day trip to Miami and had to stop at this burger joint. To my surprise, this Shake Shack was completely empty compared to the one in New York.

I'm sorry if you gained 100 pounds after reading this. I guess you could exercise if that helps... Or you could tell me your favorite vacation meals in the comments below!

Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special: Favorite Moments

If you tuned into NBC last night, there is a 100% chance you saw some of the best musical, athletic, and comedic talent in one room celebrating SNL's 40th Anniversary. So if you were like me, you were probably sitting in front of the TV for three and a half hours wishing that you could be in that very room. I grew up watching SNL, have been educated on all of the famous sketches, and still enjoy the new jokes delivered each week. The authenticity of this live show is what makes it so unique to our society. For four decades, Saturday Night Live has been a crown jewel of American comedy, and will continue to thrive for decades to come. To honor one of my favorite works of art, here are some of the best moments from last night's SNL40. Live from my couch, it's TIME TO BLOG!!! (ok sorry that seemed a lot funnier in my head…)

Kristen Wiig, one of my favorite SNL cast members, rocked this floor-length black dress with a deep V, keeping it simple yet elegant.

Why can't they be my best friends?!? Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake brought everything to the opener of the show, especially during their mash-up rap covering historical moments of SNL.

During the weekend update segment, various celebrities came and impersonated some of the most beloved SNL characters. My favorite was when Melissa McCarthy did a spot-on imitation of Chris Farley's character from the Van Down by the River sketch!

Another exciting part of the show was when Martin Short and Maya Rudolph (as Queen Bey) performed a hilarious musical montage of the best musical sketches and guests.

The Californians, a pretty recent sketch, mocks a West Coast soap opera filled with lots of family drama and the best ways to avoid Cali traffic. Last night's rendition was star studded, featuring Bill Hader, Kristen Wiig, Taran Killam, Kenan Thompson, Laraine Newman, Fred Armisen, Kerry Washington, Taylor Swift, Betty White, and Bradley Cooper, with David Spade and Cecily Strong making an appearance at the end!

Here's to 40 more years of Saturday Night Live! Let me know in the comments your favorite sketch and character!

DIY: Lilly Pulitzer-Inspired Whales

Happy New Year! On my final day of Winter Break (tears) my sister was begging for us to do a craft. At first, she suggested modge podge (too messy) and then making a mason jar to collect memories from the year (I couldn't find any mason jars). So, I thought of Plan C, using my old Lilly Pulitzer agendas. Last summer, I had planned on modge podging a desk chair with my old printed planner paper, but never got around to it (it's a goal for next summer). After scrolling through my Pinterest page, we thought it would be fun to trace and cut out prints that look like the Vineyard Vines whale. This is an easy, clean, and cute craft that will catch the eye of any prep.

Step-By-Step Directions
1. Make a whale template by tracing around a Vineyard Vines sticker or cutting out a print out
2. Select the print you are going to use
3. Figure out which way you want your whale to face
4. Trace the template  on the BACK SIDE of the printed paper to refrain from showing pencil marks
5. Cut out your whale
6. Voila!

If you want to go the extra mile...
1. When cutting, try to only cut around the whale
2. Find cute lined paper (inside of the agenda) or the colored paper of your choice
3. Use wide clear tape to tape the excess printed paper onto the lined paper
4. Cut out the shape of the whale to create a printed border around the lined paper

Possible Uses for your Preppy Whales
1. Business Card
2. LuggageTag
3. Minature Whiteboard (post 7 to a wall and you have a weekly calendar!)
4. Birthday Card
5. Stickers for your car, computer, wall, etc.

We had so much fun making our colorful whales and I hope you do the same. Let me know in the comments of your fun ways to use old Lilly prints or show me where you put your prepped out whales!

Rainy Days

On days like these, I really want to curl up in bed with some chai, Netflix, and fuzzy socks. However life isn't perfect, and I have this thing called school that I have to go to. I try to brighten my rainy days with exuberant colors for positivity. The perfect accessory for this is a pair of Hunter Wellies (I own two pairs: in pink and forest green). I also love wearing my navy rain pullover that has a bright pink monogram on the chest from Marley Lilly. These practical yet fashionable essentials to my rainy day wardrobe help make the day a little more bearable. Below is a picture from last Saturday from what I wore when it was raining (and it actually hasn't stopped raining since).

Enjoy!
