The Summer Concert Goer

One of the most exciting things about summer are the concerts! Although I have not gone to any this summer, I am always discovering new artists and obsessing over their music, attempting to see if they are scheduled to tour in my area. The four categories below represent the types of concerts I think are the most popular this summer, explaining how I would style each outfit for each concert!

1. The festival goer: In honor of Lollapalooza's arrival, (also known as the craziest people-watching experience of my life as a 13 year old) I thought that it would be beneficial to provide fashion advice for this wild weekend. I don't typically go to music festivals, I think it's usually a one-and-done deal. When I see pictures and videos from festivals similar to this, I am shocked by some of the outfit choices. I completely understand that it's ok to go a little crazy and out of your comfort zone for concerts like this. However, it's usually best to wear something a little edgy that makes YOU comfortable, aware of the line you could cross. My festival outfit would probably be: jean shorts (no butt hanging out) , and a loose and simple crop top (probably not much above the belly button), stringing flamboyant accessories together make the perfect-appropriate festival outfit!

2. The lawn-seat concert goer: Whether this is to see your favorite country singer, EDM artist, or future-indie sensation-husband perform, you can never go wrong with lawn seats. I believe that it's best to get lawn seats at an outdoor concert when you don't know every single song but want to go hear some live music with a group of your friends. The most important fashion rule for outdoor concerts is to wear reasonable footwear; you will be walking around socializing on grass and there is a chance that the ground may potentially be soggy from previous rainfall. Depending on your nighttime weather situation, either a casual dress or a comfortable top with shorts or jeans, or a romper would suit the ambiance perfectly!

3. The recital goer: Because of my high tolerance for laughing during serious/silent situations, I rarely go to recitals. However, when I go I do make sure that my outfit is simple and classy, trying not to draw attention away from the performer. I will usually wear something along the lines of a modest LBD, a pair of black flats or low heel, and a preppy statement necklace. I would like to also add that wearing a dress with a simplistic print or pastel may be encouraged if the recital is during the day time.

4. The best selling concert goer: This category has required a lot of thought because these are the type of concerts I attend the most. Later this month, I'm seeing One Direction and hopefully going to see a few of my other favorite pop-artists in concert in my area. I haven't given much thought to what I'll be wearing, but it will be along the lines of a cute dress, romper, or tank top with shorts or white jeans, and comfortable shoes. Once I decide my outfit for my upcoming concert, I will let you know in an OOTD post!

Also here are some things I DO NOT recommend for concerts

1. Strapless tops or dresses: There is a high chance you are going to be jumping up and down and dancing like there's no tomorrow. So, let's refrain from accidentally flashing the audience (because public embarrassment is such a party pooper) and keep the straps in full force, ladies.

2. Uncomfortable shoes: I. cannot. stress. this. enough. Comfortable shoes should be some sort of concert-going law to abide by. I cringe when I come across neon pink stilettos at concerts because I can't imagine what kind of pain these people are putting themselves through. Girls, it's very important to remember that your favorite singer/future soulmate is not going to be staring at your feet when serenading you with your favorite song.

3. A negative attitude: Cheesy, but true… even if you don't like the music, having an open mind will prevent you from being a buzzkill and not having an amazing time with your friends.

4. A half-charged phone: You're going to take a ton of pictures and videos and by the end of the night, even if you entered the venue at 100% battery, your phone will probably die. Something I recommend (which also applies to people with low iPhone storage issues like me) would be to delete the apps that take up the most data and NEVER have your phone brightness on full blast in order to save battery.

Let me know if you are going to a concert this summer/fall and what YOU will be wearing!!! Also I'd love to hear recommendations of new artists and songs in the comments below!
